"My team is spending time and my money on manual data entry, replying to emails one by one, and trying to make our current tech work together."
"My leads keep slipping through the cracks, I struggle to stay on top of invoicing, and chasing up with every client eats up way too much of my time. Our messy system is costing us sales - and sleep too!"
"After spending hours crafting email campaigns, designing customer profiles, and aligning our offers and target audience, our conversion rate is lower than a dead missionary's."

I am extremely grateful for having the opportunity to have Chad in my corner! He has repeatedly gone above and beyond expectations. There were multiple times when I had things in place that were good, and then I’d find out later that Chad had made significant improvements to them that I wasn’t aware were possible. Multiple times. Multiple times. I was blown away by the attention to detail and the consistency and reliability of service. Clear, concise, polite, super competent, nice human, I dunno what else to say, I’ll work with Chad every chance I get and so should you!

Do you feel like you’re constantly chasing the next milestone but never quite satisfied when you reach it? If so, it might be time to pause and ask yourself a critical question: are you building the right thing?
For founders and leaders, vision isn’t just a nice-to-have; it’s the map that guides every decision, action, and long-term strategy. Yet, so many of us charge forward without stepping back to clarify what we’re truly working toward—in business and in life. Without this clarity, burnout, misalignment, and that nagging feeling of “something’s missing” tend to creep in.
This guide offers a simple, reflective, yet deeply impactful framework to help you uncover (or refine) your vision. More than a to-do list, it’s your opportunity to create a map that aligns your ambition with your purpose so you can lead with clarity and passion.
When you think about “vision,” it may feel abstract or philosophical. But a lack of vision alignment doesn’t just sap energy; it can also derail progress. Founders without a clear roadmap often find themselves overwhelmed, fighting fires instead of building their legacy.
Aligned vision does more than keep you motivated. It acts as a filter to help you make decisions quickly and stay focused on the essentials. When your vision is aligned with your values and who you are, you stop pushing and start moving with precision, purpose, and power.
Your future begins with your story. If you’re unsure where to focus next, take a step back and reflect on everything you’ve achieved so far.
Here’s a practical exercise to get started:
List 5 things you're proud of achieving in the past. These could be significant milestones in your career, a challenging problem you solved, or even personal growth moments outside of work.
Next, ask yourself why these accomplishments matter to you. Was it the impact on others? The challenge it represented? The skills you gained?
This reflective process helps uncover patterns. For example, if your proudest moments involve mentoring others, your vision likely includes empowering people. Use these insights to guide where your future efforts should go.
It’s time to think beyond the day-to-day grind. Imagine your life and business in the next decade. What does success look like to you?
Take 20 minutes for this exercise:
Write down 50 things you want to achieve in the next 10 years, both personal and professional. Don’t overthink it. Include goals like “grow my company’s revenue by 5x” alongside personal ones like “move to the mountains” or “learn to cook Italian food.”
To refine your ideas, ask yourself these questions:
What do I want to build?
What kind of leader do I want to become?
What impact do I want to have on others?
This isn’t just brainstorming; it’s creating the foundation of your vision. This expansive approach ensures you’re designing a future that serves both your ambitions and your wellbeing.
Once you’ve defined what you want, it’s time to create structure. A vision without action steps stays a dream. That’s where timelines come in.
Here’s how:
Group your list of goals by timeframe:
1 year: What projects or quick wins can you achieve in the short term?
3 years: Medium-term goals that require consistency and growth
5 years: Bigger milestones or initiatives that need groundwork now
10 years: Your North Star goals—the ultimate destination you’re working toward
Once grouped, choose your top 4 priorities in each category. These are the ones that excite you most and align strongly with your values.
The goal here isn’t to create a rigid plan but rather to establish momentum. By breaking your vision into manageable horizons, you gain clarity on what to focus on today while keeping your long-term goals in sight.
A vision isn’t just what you want to accomplish; it’s a reflection of why it matters. Without emotional connection, even the most inspiring goals can feel like chores.
For each of the 4 priorities you chose in Step 3, write a short story describing what achieving it will look and feel like.
What does your daily life look like once you’ve hit this milestone?
Who is benefitting from your work or leadership?
How do you feel waking up in the morning?
Example:
Goal: Scale my company to $20M ARR in 5 years
Why: I want to create a workplace that empowers employees to grow personally and professionally. It will also give me the financial freedom to spend more time with my family.
When you articulate the emotional “why” behind your vision, tough days become easier to tackle, and your decisions align more naturally with your bigger purpose.
When your vision aligns with who you are and what matters most, you don’t feel stuck or overwhelmed. You move forward with confidence, knowing you’re building something meaningful.
If you’ve followed the steps above, you now have more than a list of goals. You’ve created a personalized roadmap for business and life. Every step reflects your unique strengths, values, and aspirations.
